Tottenham round-up: Early team news and Chelsea join race for Wanyama

White Hart Lane 4

A select round-up of the latest news relating to Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham Hotspur take on Crystal Palace at White Hart Lane this afternoon with Mauricio Pochettino’s side looking to make a big jump up the Premier League table.

Saturday’s results mean Tottenham slipped to 16th with six points from their first five matches, but a victory this afternoon will see Spurs move back into the top half.

In early team news, the BBC reports that Tottenham could have Mousa Dembele, Christian Eriksen and Ryan Mason all available following injury, while Eric Dier has recovered from the setback that saw him limp off against FK Qarabag on Thursday evening.

Nabil Bentaleb is however unavailable, while Palace can call on Damien Delaney and Joe Ledley once more.

In other news, the Daily Star Sunday reports that Chelsea are preparing to hijack Tottenham’s move for Victor Wanyama in January.

The Southampton star would be a wonderful addition at White Hart Lane and Tottenham reportedly bid for him in the closing stages of the summer transfer window (£18million plus Erik Lamela on loan), but Chelsea are now said to be considering a £20million bid when the window reopens at the turn of the year.
