The Villa Park chief was not happy with his side’s performance in losing to West Brom.
A Saido Berahino first-half strike decided the local derby in the favour of the visitors and compounded the hosts to their fifth successive Premier League game without a win.
The home faithful were left frustrated by the result, with the Baggies fans taking home local bragging rights after the 1-0 result.
Sherwood has stated that he did not think that his side put in a performance worthy of three points, despite mounting pressure in the second half after the introduction of lofty frontman Rudy Gestede.
“It was not good enough. I thought West Brom did a good job,” Sherwood told the club’s official website.
“They stifled us. They got around the second balls a lot better than we did in the first period.
“We looked a little bit more threatening in the second period when Rudy came on and we loaded the box up with more bodies.
“But it was disappointing that we couldn't impose ourselves on West Brom as much as we would have liked and anticipated.”
Villa have another derby against Birmingham City in the Capital One Cup in midweek and will look for a morale-boosting win after a recent run of poor form in the league.
Sherwood’s charges have only picked up four points from their first six games, with a win away to Bournemouth and draw at home to Sunderland the only matches of positive results so far this season for the Midlands outfit.
