Are Celtic about to sign Carlton Cole on a free transfer?

Former Chelsea and West Ham United striker Carlton Cole is set to attend the Scottish Premiership game between Celtic and Dundee at Celtic Park this afternoon, according to The Daily Record.

The 31-year-old, who is a free agent at the moment after leaving West Ham at the end of the 2014-15 season, has been spotted at Celtic Park with his representatives (click here to see the photo).

The Daily Record has not provided any further details, but this does appear to be a sign that Celtic are interested in signing Cole on a free ttransfer.

The Bhoys have three recognised strikers on their books at the moment - Leigh Griffiths, Nadir Ciftci and Anthony Stokes - and it seems that manager Ronny Deila wants to add one more.

Cole is a hugely experienced striker who started his professional career at London giants Chelsea.

In recent years, the Englishman has struggled for playing time, though, which does raise doubts whether he will be able to compete for a first-team place if he does join Celtic.
