Former Tottenham Hotspur star Jamie Redknapp has been singing the praises of Manchester United attacking midfielder Juan Mata in The Daily Mail.
Mata is one of the best players on the books of United and was superb for them against Southampton in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon.
The Spain international scored in the Red Devils’ 3-2 victory over the Saints at St. Mary’s Stadium and was a creative spark for the visitors.
Former Tottenham midfielder Redknapp was impressed with the performance of Mata and wrote in The Daily Mail: “With the signings made in the summer a lot of people assumed Mata would be the man to lose his place in the starting XI. Right now he’s doing more than enough to justify his place.
“He must be a dream player to work with. He is a class act, never complains, is such a gifted technical player and with pace around him he can really make United tick. He’s the thinking man’s footballer.”
Mata has scored two goals and create 13 chances in six Premier League appearances for United so far this season.
The 27-year-old has a pass accuracy of 89% and a shot accuracy of 50%, and has won one header, three dribbles and six tackles.
Against Southampton on Sunday afternoon, Mata took two shots, had a pass accuracy of 96%, created two chances, and made one interception and two clearances.
