The Manchester United forward scored twice against Southampton.
What a waste of money etc etc. We've all seen how Manchester United fans - as well as pundits - have now mocked the criticism that greeted the club's Deadline Day signing of Anthony Martial.
United paid an initial £36 million to Monaco, according to BBC Sport among many others. It's funny how a couple of goals suddenly make everyone immediately retract what they had at first said about the transfer fee.
Still, though, the 19-year-old certainly looks like he has plenty of talent and his brace against Southampton saw Twitter go crazy.
Gary Lineker was full of praise for the Manchester United forward, making the predictable joke that he now looks like a 'steal.'
Martial is beginning to resemble a bargain.— Gary Lineker (@GaryLineker) September 20, 2015

And former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand reacted in the exact same way as Lineker, making the same joke and also lauding his composure.
Martial....composure of the highest order— Rio Ferdinand (@rioferdy5) September 20, 2015
Martial - bargain of the transfer window at this rate!!!! Haha— Rio Ferdinand (@rioferdy5) September 20, 2015
Another ex-Manchester United man in Louis Saha also took to social media, boasting that he told everyone how good the 19-year-old is - but promising that there is even more to come from the teenager after his two-goal haul against Southampton.
With absolute no doubt I told everybody how good the kid Martial is but people dont know yet how good he can become. Terrific talent.— Louis Saha (@louissaha08) September 20, 2015
