Manchester City fans had to wait patiently for their first sight of summer signing Nicolas Otamendi on the pitch after the Argentine international was required to wait for his work permit to be approved.
Since then the former Valencia defender has appeared twice for City, first against Juventus in the Champions League and more recently against West Ham United in the league, and while City have lost both matches, Otamendi has shown glimpses of his undeniable talent.
The 27-year-old only featured for the last 12 minutes against Juventus, but an injury to Vincent Kompany saw him make his first start a few days later against the Hammers.
West Ham won courtesy of goals from Victor Moses and Diafra Sakho, with Kevin de Bruyne’s reply a mere consolation, but in the Belgian international and Otamendi City have made two superb signings.
After the match we took to Twitter to see what City fans thought of Otamendi’s Premier League debut and you can read a selection of what we found below:
1 of those days I suppose! On a positive note De Bruyne looks superb and Otamendi looked strong, especially alongside Demichelis #MCFC— Kev Greenhalgh (@Scuzzlebutt84) September 20, 2015

Otamendi was excellent on the ball. He'd be a very good defensive midfielder #mcfc— Charlie (@Charlie_Sport) September 20, 2015
Reflecting on yesterdays defeat. Played pretty well and just one of those days. KDB will be great for us. Otamendi clearly top defender— Gaz (@gazwillis100) September 20, 2015
