Video: Tottenham Hotspur star Andros Townsend recreates classic Premier League goals, including Ronaldo and Robin van Persie strikes

The winger did not however do so well at Anthony Yeboah and Paolo Di Canio efforts.

Andros Townsend is without doubt a talented player and this week he has been trying to use his ability to recreate some classic Premier League goals.

He was taking part in the event for Sony and Playstation, who are celebrating the 20th anniversary of the original console release.

The Tottenham Hotspur midfielder was tasked by Fenners and Tubes from Soccer Am to attempt remakes of four classic goals from the past 20 years of the Premier League.

The goals in question were the infamous Anthony Yeboah screamer for Leeds United in 1995, Paolo Di Canio’s scissor kick against Wimbledon, Cristiano Ronaldo’s stunning free-kick against Portsmouth from 2008 and Robin van Persie’s volley against Aston villa from two years ago.

He tried all four efforts, with mixed results.

His Yeboah attempt was way off and the Di Canio effort certainly lacked the finesse of the Italian.

However, his Ronaldo and Van Persie recreations were not far off.

The volley may not have had the ferocity of Van Persie’s but the Spurs man nailed the Ronaldo free-kick technique.

Christian Eriksen is the current Tottenham free-kick taker, but he is currently out injured. Perhaps Townsend should take over for now.
