Newcastle United will take on Watford at home in the Premier League this afternoon.

Newcastle United defender Fabricio Coloccini has told The Chronicle that he and his teammates are determined to win against Watford for the fans.

The Magpies will be looking to pick up their first victory in the Premier League this afternoon when they take on Watford at St. James’ Park.

Steve McClaren’s side are at the foot of the league table with just two points from five matches, and will head into today’s encounter on the back of a disappointing 2-0 defeat to West Ham United away from home at the Boleyn Ground.

Coloccini has said that he and his teammates are determined to win today, especially to show the fans what they are capable of.

“They (the fans) waited a long time for the West Ham game to come and we didn’t play well for them,” the Argentine centre-back told The Chronicle.

“We couldn’t dominate the game. Now next time against Watford we have to play well and show them that we do have ambition for the season.”

Today’s match is massive for Newcastle, and one that the Magpies are desperate to win.

However, it will not be easy for the home team, especially as Watford are having a better season than them.

The Hornets, who got promoted from the Championship at the end of last season, got the better of Swansea City 1-0 at Vicarage Road last weekend.

A defeat to Watford today will be hugely damaging for Newcastle and their head coach McClaren.
