Both Newcastle and Sunderland lost in the Premier League, as their disappointing starts to the season continue.
While the Magpies went down 2-1 to Watford at St. James’ Park, Sunderland suffered a 2-0 defeat to Bournemouth away from home at the Vitality Stadium.
The results mean that Sunderland are now at the bottom of the Premier League table with two points from six matches, while Newcastle are above them but only on goal difference.
Former Scotland international midfielder Burley, who now works as a pundit for ESPN, was hugely critical of the two clubs and made the following damning post on Twitter:
Why don't they just be done with it in the north east and drag people out the pubs to play. It'd save some dough at least.— Craig Burley (@CBurleyESPN) September 19, 2015
Sunderland and Newcastle narrowly avoided relegation from the Premier League last season, and it seems that they will be fighting for survival in the top flight of English football yet again.
