Chris Sutton has been singing the praises of Celtic attacking midfielder Kris Commons in The Daily Record.
Commons made his first European start for the Hoops against Dutch giants Ajax away from home in the Netherlands in the Europa League Group A on Thursday evening.
The 32-year-old was superb throughout the 90 minutes, as he set up both the goals for Celtic and created a number of chances.
The former Scotland international was brilliant when playing just off the central striker and linked well with his midfield teammates.
Former Celtic striker Sutton was following the match, which ended in a 2-2 draw, and he was impressed with the performance of Commons.
“I keep banging on about him because I spoke a lot about Commons last season as well when he wasn’t playing,” Sutton wrote in The Daily Record. “But you know when he steps onto the pitch he is going to make something happen.
“You look for Commons to produce or create something, to smash one into the top corner himself from 20 yards. He’s done it for long enough at Celtic and he has got weapons and talents that others do not.”
Commons is one of the best attacking midfielders in the Scottish Premiership, and he does need to be more involved for Celtic this season.
Ronny Deila’s side will return to league action on Sunday afternoon when they take on Dundee at Celtic Park.
