HITC Sport understands Josh Wright has extended his stay at Gillingham after turning down a move to America.
League One leaders Gillingham have tied down midfielder Josh Wright to a new deal until the end of the season, HITC Sport understands from sources close to the club.
Wright has been a revelation at Gillingham since joining them on a short-term deal last month - following his departure from Leyton Orient in the summer.
The 25-year-old has been an ever-present for Justin Edinburgh's side and has been instrumental in helping them to the top of League One, following their flying start to the season.
An unnamed Major League Soccer side made an approach for Wright last week and offered the former Charlton and Millwall man a two-year deal to move to America.
However, Wright has snubbed the offer and Gillingham have moved to reward the classy midfielder for his impact at Priestfield with a deal until the end of the 2015/16 campaign.
Wright is in his second spell at Gillingham, after helping the club win promotion to League One in the 2008/09 season when on loan from Charlton.
News of Wright's new deal will come as a massive boost to Gillingham as they look to maintain their push for promotion to the Championship.
