The defender also believes that the Hammers can put in a positive showing against Manchester City.
The Hammers were extremely busy over summer as new manager Slaven Bilic sought to overhaul the squad he inherited from former boss Sam Allardyce.
It was an ambitious rebuilding project from the club as they secured big-name signings such as Dimitri Payet for sizeable fees, with the owners clearly intent on challenging higher up the Premier League pyramid ahead of their move to the Olympic Stadium.
And Collins says credit must go to them as they now have 'world-class' performers in every position.
“The quality of players that we signed during the summer is there for everyone to see and all credit to the gaffer and the chairmen,” he told whufc.com.
“It is a great time to be involved with West Ham. We have got world-class players in every position and it is certainly the best squad I have ever seen at West Ham. As a player you relish the competition for places and you need to prove yourself.”
Confident of good performance at the Etihad
Bilic’s side have made an impressive start to the season, winning three of their first five games, with victories over Arsenal and Liverpool away from home highlighting what they are capable of.
They take on Manchester City next, with Manuel Pellegrini’s side also bursting out of the blocks - winning all five of their games so far without conceding a goal to set the pace in the Premier League title race.
It will be a tough test for the Hammers, but given their away performances so far this season, Collins is convinced they can go to the Etihad and give a good account of themselves.
“We have got a strong squad and I'm sure we can go there and give a good account of ourselves,” he added.
“We have defended really well in the two away games and again on Monday night and we are going to have do the same at City. We have lads in the team who can go up the other end and score goals.”
