West Ham’s Payet relishing battle with Manchester City’s David Silva

The midfielder believes his side can do some damage to the Premier League's in form side.

Speaking to the club’s official website, West Ham United’s Dimitri Payet says Manchester City star David Silva is a player he cannot help but admire.

The two will come up against each other when the Hammers take on City in Saturday’s late kick off.

Silva has been dominating the Premier League for several seasons when it comes to assists, with him firmly being a key player in Manuel Pellegrini’s side, and continuing that form so far this season.

Payet has arrived at Upton Park having enjoyed an impressive assist record while with Marseille last season, and he says Silva is one of the players he appreciates.

“He's a player that I admire, with the way that he manages, practically every time that he gets the ball, to find space in behind,” he told whufc.com.

“He has a truly exceptional quality of pass. I saw the Spain game during the international break where he played an unbelievable pass for Jordi Alba. He’s the type of player that I really appreciate.”

West Ham can do damage to Manchester City

The trip to the Etihad will be a tough one for Slaven Bilic’s side, with Manuel Pellegrini’s side having started the season on fire.

They have won all five of their games so far, and kept a clean sheet in all of their games, with many now predicting they could be difficult to catch this campaign’s title race.

The Hammers haven’t had a bad start to the year themselves though having won three of their five games, including wins over both Arsenal and Liverpool away, and Payet believes they can cause their own problems to the leaders.

“Of course it's a challenge, they're the leaders,” he added.

“We know the attacking power of Manchester City. Like at Liverpool, like at Arsenal, we’re not expected to win, so we're going there without pressure, and we're going to try to trouble them with our weapons.”
