Mark Lawrenson and Harry Redknapp predict Manchester City v West Ham

Manchester City Etihad

Manchester City will face West Ham United at the Etihad Stadium in the Premier League on Saturday evening.

Former Liverpool defender Mark Lawrenson has predicted on BBC Sport that Manchester City will win against West Ham United at home this weekend.

City will take on the Hammers at the Etihad Stadium in the Premier League on Saturday evening, and Liverpool legend Lawrenson has backed the Citizens to win 2-0 and pick up all three points.

“They have won at Arsenal and won at Liverpool so I'm not sure I can tip West Ham to get beaten with their away form so far this season,” the former Liverpool star wrote on BBC Sport.

“I am going to, though. Dimitri Payet looks a very good player for the Hammers, but will he see enough of the ball to hurt Manchester City? I would argue the answer is no.

“From what we have seen of them domestically this season, I think it will be a routine victory for the leaders.”

Former West Ham manager Harry Redknapp has also backed City to win 2-0 and wrote on Kicca.com: "West Ham had a great result on Monday but can’t see City not winning, they’re the team to beat and will win at home."

Manchester City are favourites

City have won all five of their Premier League matches so far this season, and they will be favourites to make it six out of six.

Although Manuel Pellegrini’s side suffered a setback against Italian champions Juventus in the Champions League in midweek, they should be able to bounce back.

West Ham themselves are in good form at the moment, and manager Slaven Bilic will tell his players that they can stage an upset at the Etihad.

However, the best the Hammers can hope for is a point at City.
