The 19-year-old joined the Red Devils from French club AS Monaco in the summer transfer window and has made a fantastic start to his career at Old Trafford.
The France international scored on his debut for United against Liverpool at Old Trafford in the Premier League last weekend.
Martial was then handed a start by United manager Louis van Gaal against PSV in Eindhoven in the Champions League Group B on Tuesday.
Former Liverpool defender Carragher has given his verdict on the performances of Martial for the Red Devils so far this campaign.
“He made a fantastic start to his Old Trafford career with that goal but it's difficult to judge a player so quickly,” the former England international told Sky Sports.
“It’s very early days and I think Louis van Gaal was right to say he won't play all the games and will be coming in and out of the team.
"He played as the central striker against PSV and did ok but he's a player as much for now as for the future.”
Martial is a big talent and he will come good, but for the time being United fans should have patience and give him time to develop.
One should not expect the teenager to score goals in every game. There is pressure on him to perform, but it need not be more than it already is.
