The Celtic assistant coach is disappointed for the left-back.
The 29-year-old was red carded after two bookable offences, with the Bhoys failing to hold onto their 2-1 lead after his dismissal.
In the end, Celtic managed a 2-2 draw at Ajax - a valuable point under the circumstances - but many were disappointed Izaguirre had cost his side dearly.
Collins is as disappointed for the full-back as he is the team, however, praising his form before his sending off.
JC: "Disappointed for Emilio and for us, as he was playing terrifically. But it’s gone now and we move on." #UEL (MH)— Celtic Football Club (@celticfc) September 18, 2015
The fact remains, though, that Izaguirre let Celtic down - committing some very unnecessary fouls indeed. In terms of his long-term form, meanwhile, Bhoys supporters have complained about the 29-year-old for quite some time.
Collins is backing the left-back, though, and Ronny Deila also explained that he didn't substitute the Honduran because he was having plenty of joy against his Ajax counterpart.
But, if Izaguirre isn't on the pitch from start to finish, what use will he be?
Next up for the Hoops is a home Scottish Premiership clash against Dundee this Sunday afternoon.
