Ian Holloway says Birmingham head coach Gary Rowett won't allow his side to think about their upcoming Capital One Cup game against Aston Villa during their Championship clash with Ipswich Town this weekend, according to Sky Sports.
Birmingham face Ipswich on Friday night but will know they are taking on Aston Villa in a huge derby the following Tuesday night.
But former manager Holloway is confident Rowett will be putting that out of his side's minds.
Holloway told Sky Sports: "Gary Rowett has got Birmingham City etched all over him and he's putting that through to the players. They look like they're going to have an exciting season.
"He'll be asking whether his team can be consistent in the toughest league in the world. And you can guarantee they won't be thinking about Tuesday's derby against Villa. Rowett won't allow that."
Keeping a tie as big as the Aston Villa out of players' minds will be a tough task, of course, but the Birmingham boss may well be helped by the fact Nottingham Forest ended their unbeaten run earlier this week.
That provides the perfect motivation to bounce back, although Ipswich certainly aren't the easiest of sides to face right after a loss.
Mick McCarthy's men ended an unbeaten run of their own, beating the previously undefeated Leeds United at Elland Road. It'll be a big few days for Birmingham, then, and it won't be easy. Will they let the Villa clash distract them?
