Kevin Wimmer was impressive on his Tottenham debut.
Kevin Wimmer made his long awaited debut for Tottenham Hotspur last night in the Europa League.
The Austrian international was the club's first signing of the summer back in June, but was overtaken in the pecking order by another arrival, Toby Alderweireld.
Wimmer got a chance to partner the Belgian international, and looked assured making his first appearance at White Hart Lane.
The centre-back was not the only debutant, with teammate Kieran Trippier unfortunate to concede a penalty only six minutes in.
Wimmer's performance against Qarabag was more confidence inspiring, and appeared to strike a good rapport with Alderweireld.
He completed 95 per cent of his passes, more than any other player on the pitch.
Wimmer made two tackles and three interceptions, with the latter a figure matched only by central midfielder Dele Alli.
Tottenham's defence was a weak point last season, but Wimmer's display showed they have strength in depth. The partnership of Alderweireld and Belgian international teammate Jan Vertonghen will be hard to break up, but if he continues to play well when called up, he will begin to force his way into his head coach's thoughts.
Here is a look at what fans had to say about Wimmer's debut...
