Confirmed: Ajax v Celtic line-ups: Simunovic among starters

Ajax host Celtic in the Europa League. Here's a look at how the two teams line-up...

The Europa League begins tonight, and Celtic's visit to Ajax is one of the more interesting ties between two continental giants aiming to recapture their former glories.

The game in Amsterdam kicks off at 6pm, and Celtic will be keen to prove a point that they can compete in Europe, having been knocked out of the Champions League qualifiers by Swedish side Malmo.

Celtic go into the game having slipped to second in the Scottish Premier League, five points behind Aberdeen who have a 100 per cent record after seven games.

Ajax top the Eredivisie, with 13 points from a possible 15 and are unbeaten, conceding only two goals in five matches.

Celtic boss Ronny Deila told his pre-match press conference he hopes the match with Ajax can help 'energise' his side as they look to kick start their season.

Turkish side Fenerbahce and Norwegian club Molde compete in the other Europa League Group A game taking place this evening.
