Chelsea haven't had many reasons to smile this season, but last night they produced one as they got their Champions League campaign off to the perfect start with 4-0 win over Maccabi Tel Aviv at Stamford Bridge.
After Willian was brought down in the early stages of the game, it looked as though it could be another frustrating night for Jose Mourinho and his side when Eden Hazard skied his penalty - prompting laughter and ridicule on the internet, as one would expect.
But they didn't have to wait long until they found a breakthrough, as Willian's free-kick missed everybody on the way through to give Chelsea the lead and provide some much needed relief to Stamford Bridge - though the Brazilian was withdrawn shortly afterwards through injury, with Diego Costa taking his place.
A second penalty came Chelsea's way before the interval when Costa was brought down, with Oscar given the chance to convert the opportunity.
Though the visitors had the odd chance to get on the scoresheet, they weren't clinical enough in the final third and Costa put the game beyond doubt with a well taken volley, while Cesc Fabregas rounded off a Chelsea counter-attack to complete the scoring.
But one man whose performance seemed to catch the eye was that of Oscar, who returned to the side following a muscular injury - and some seem to be of the opinion that he was sorely missed during his absence.
Here is a selection of what the fans had to say on twitter:
Oscar has two goals this season....and only featured in two games for Chelsea. #CFC— Bridge News (@cfc_wale) September 17, 2015
If there was ever any question how important Oscar is to our starting XI they were answered today. Everything flowed thru him today. #CFC— maybe ben (@theneatobendito) September 17, 2015
Good to see Oscar back and complete 60 minutes, he comes off with a goal to his name having scored from the spot. Ramires on. #CFC— TweetChelseaFC (@TweetChelseaFC) September 16, 2015
We've missed Oscar so much. Made everything click in midfield. Looked more like a 4-3-3 for large parts of the game. Unparalleled awareness.— Ervin (@DieHardCFCFan) September 17, 2015
Oscar came back to the squad n everybody almost back to their best, let that sink in— PapaTunde (@timkilosi) September 17, 2015
