The Aston Villa boss has been talking about four of his players.
Aston Villa manager Tim Sherwood has given an update on four of his first-team players in comments later published on the club’s official website.
Crespo injured himself during pre-season and is yet to feature for Villa in competitive action but Sherwood feels it is only a matter of time before the full-back is available once more.
“Jose is getting closer,” the Villa manager said. “He is certainly going in the right direction.”
He then went on to confirm that Traore has not yet trained since picking up an injury in the Capital One Cup recently, while Gill is yet to return to training after suffering from soreness following the weekend clash against Leicester City.
The winger started that game and scored, and having featured so sparingly under Sherwood he will want to now build up a head of steam rather than spend any more time than necessary on the side-lines.
Sherwood then confirmed that Liverpool loanee Tiago Ilori is not yet being considered for first-team action despite his undeniable talent.
“Tiago is not ready,” Sherwood added. “It’s probably a bit early for him to start coming into the reckoning.”
Villa saw a two-goal lead wiped out in just 17 minutes on Sunday and they will be hoping to get over that in emphatic style when they take on West Bromwich Albion in a huge derby game this Saturday.
