JC if Jozo Simunovic could make his Celtic bow: 'Every chance. Team not picked yet but he trained very well yesterday.' (MH)— Celtic Football Club (@celticfc) September 16, 2015
Charlie Mulgrew is out due to injury, which could keep him out of action for a few weeks, whilst deadline day signing Jozo Simunovic could be set to finally make his debut for the Bhoys.
Collins has neither confirmed nor denied whether the 21-year-old Croatian centre-back will be selected, with the entire team not picked yet, but he has admitted that he trained well.
This, as well as the poor performance put in by Celtic’s backline over the weekend, could see Simunovic start for Ronny Deila’s men, following his transfer from Dinamo Zagreb.
Dedryck Boyata gave away a penalty at the weekend, whilst the entire defensive unit struggled to deal with balls into the box, with a late long-range free-kick leading to Aberdeen’s winner.
With Ajax a tough game for the Bhoys, Deila could consider that changing his usual back-line is a mistake, preferring to stay with a settled side. However, Simunovic could add that extra bit of quality to the team, and he also has continental experience which could prove vital in the Europa League.
Simunovic’s inclusion will not be confirmed until the team sheets for the game are released, but it would be no surprise to see the summer signing make his debut for the Bhoys against Ajax.
