The Tractor Boys won 1-0 at Elland Road last night.
Leeds United suffered their first defeat of the new Championship season last night against Ipswich Town.
They then lost their executive director Adam Pearson – who stepped down from the club after a brief but seemingly successful spell at Elland Road. So it would be fair to say that this was a bad day at the office for the Yorkshire club.
However, for Ipswich, it was a great way to recover from a thrashing suffered at the hands of Reading last Friday. They were thumped 5-1 that night and Mick McCarthy must be pleased with the way his team responded on Tuesday.
The goal on the night came from an unlikely source. New Zealand defender Tommy Smith scored his second goal of the season in the game – taking full advantage of a mistake from Leeds United goalkeeper Marco Silvestri.
After the game Smith Tweeted his joy at the result, especially as the result came against a Leeds team he seemed to rate highly:
Ipswich Town are now back up the table to fifth in the league but Leeds have dropped to 14th and still have just the one win this season.
