And Match of the Day and BT Sport host Gary Lineker was one of the quickest to react to Giroud's performance.
Indeed, when the 28-year-old was sent off, Lineker was frank - labeling his display 'hopeless.'

Giroud's failure to contribute before then contributing in the worst way possible (barring an own goal) certainly won't strengthen the argument of any of his supporters when it comes to leading the line for the Gunners.
Nor will the fact Theo Walcott went on to score after coming on for Arsenal, even though the north London side were playing with 10 men. The Giroud critics will be out in full force...
