Paris Saint Germain star Edinson Cavani has claimed a number of clubs tried to sign him during the summer transfer window.
Cavani's future at the Parc des Princes was the subject of fervent speculation in the summer, with a host of top clubs from across Europe keeping tabs on his situation at PSG.
Cavani was reportedly a top target for Arsenal – according to the Evening Standard - as they looked to bring in a world-class forward, but the transfer window closed with the Uruguay international staying in Paris with the reigning Ligue 1 champions.
Manchester United have also held a long-term interest in Cavani, as reported by the Daily Star, while Italian giants Juventus have also been mooted as possible suitors for the South American.
Cavani admits he had opportunities to leave this summer, but that PSG had no intention of letting him go as he remained a key part of Laurent Blanc's plans.
"Many transfer opportunities presented themselves," Cavani told Journal du Dimanche. "But PSG has always trusted me, this is the club who can give me what is better."
Cavani has started the season in fine style for PSG, scoring four goals in five games for the French champions, including one in their Champions League victory over Malmo on Tuesday night.
