The Ghana stars are still on talking terms despite the revelations.
In a new twist in one of the more bizarre stories at Aston Villa so far this season Torino midfielder Afriyie Acquah has said he has no problem with Aston Villa newbie Jordan Ayew – despite the attacker having had a reported four-year affair with the Serie A midfielder’s wife!
The wife in question revealed the liaison last month in a story that shook Ghanaian football. However since then the two have been in the same Ghana squad for matches with Congo and Rwanda and according to Acquah there is no problem between him and Ayew.
He is quoted by Goal.com as stating:
"We are cool.
“Even two days before we went to camp, he called me and we were talking.
“Before I played against Fiorentina [on August 30], he called to ask me if I will play or not. We talk, so we don’t have any issues and we don’t have any problem.”
Ayew has indeed been making more headlines off the pitch than on them so far this season. Since arriving at Villa he has certainly not hit the ground running quite in the way that his brother Andre has at Swansea City.
He is also still searching for his first goal for Villa.
Whether or not his recent troubles off the pitch have affected his performances is not known but it has surely not helped. Hopefully the fact Acquah has now declared the incident over Ayew can find his best form and start to show the Villa fans just what the club paid for.
