West Ham fans react on Twitter to Dimitri Payet’s brace against Newcastle

West Ham defeated Newcastle 2-0 on Monday evening.

West Ham clinched their first home win of the season by defeating Newcastle 2-0 on Monday evening, securing an easy victory over a lacklustre Magpies side.

The entire Hammers team performed well, with the likes of James Tomkins, debutant Victor Moses and Diafra Sakho all completing their defined roles with excellence.

However, there was one player who stole the show, with summer signing Dimitri Payet once again proving himself as a truly top class talent, as he netted both goals in the victory.

The first came from a lovely team move, which the Frenchman curled into the top corner in the first half, before he secured the victory early in the second period by turning into an open goal after Moses ran the length of the pitch and hit the crossbar.

Payet, 28, has shown his talent already this term, and he looks like a player who should be turning out in the Champions League, rather than in a team who finished last season mid-table.

He is already being considered as one of the signings of the season, and after only five games, he is living up to this billing, having produced displays filled with quality, work rate and experience.

Payet’s brace against the Magpies took him onto three goals for the season, making him the Hammers' current leading scorer, whilst he also has one assist.

The Frenchman is so far living up to his classy reputation, and West Ham fans took to Twitter at the end of the game to react to his performance, with gushing praise lavished upon him when the tie was over.
