Arsene Wenger confirms Aaron Ramsey and Hector Bellerin have been left behind for Champions League trip

The two players have been given a rest for the Dinamo Zagreb tie.

The Champions League gets back underway this week, with four teams from the Premier League all hoping to be crowned the kings of Europe come the end of the season.

Manchester United, Manchester City, Chelsea and Arsenal are the teams in action with the latter facing Dinamo Zagreb in Croatia tomorrow evening.

The game at the Maksimir Stadion will certainly not be one to take lightly. A cauldron of an atmosphere awaits Arsenal and despite the difference in class between the two teams, that could be a leveller.

Arsenal should not be taking it too easy then, but two perfectly fit players are being left at home.

Arsene Wenger has confirmed in his pre-match press conference that both Aaron Ramsey and Hector Bellerin will be staying at home to rest up ahead of the game.

It does make sense however for Arsenal to rotate the squad. Bellerin is still young and with Mathieu Debuchy in reserve Arsenal have a more than capable replacement. Ramsey has been playing regularly for both club and country. Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is dying for a start and this might just be the opportunity.

It seems a risk on paper, but Wenger is right to be keeping the team fresh and ready for the Premier League campaign.

Hopefully it won’t come back to bite him.
