Ramiro Funes Mori has told the Liverpool Echo that he is convinced he made the right choice by opting to move to Everton this summer.
The Argentine defender had interest from Villarreal, but says he is glad that he decided against joining the Spanish giants.
Mori says that the support that Toffees fans have shown him, combined with being managed by Roberto Martinez, has helped to assure him that he made the correct decision when plumping for a switch to Goodison Park.
“I’m extremely happy to be here at Everton," he said.
“This is a new adventure for me. Since I landed in Liverpool, Everton fans have showed me all their love even though they had not heard about me before.
“I’m so convinced about having moved to Everton. It’s true that Villarreal were after me too, but I didn’t even hesitate when Everton called me. Martinez told me that he trusts me.”
Mori made his Everton debut at the weekend, in the Toffees' highly impressive 3-1 victory over Chelsea.
The 24-year-old joined the action for the final periods of the match, as the hosts looked to hold on to their advantage, and he looked assured in his defending.
One surge forward, which was halted by Diego Costa, was also notable and he will be aware of the need to maintain high standards if he is to break into Martinez's first-team.
Everton generally station Phil Jagielka and John Stones at the heart of their defence, and the pair have made a bright start to the season, meaning Mori may have to be patient before receiving the regular starting action he craves.
