HITC Sport understands that Jose Mourinho may be tempted to raid his former employers for the teenage midfielder.
The 18-year-old is emerging as one of the prized assets of Jose Mourinho’s former club and unsurprisingly, the Portuguese coach is already well aware of Neves’s progress.
Neves is a product of the youth system at the Estadio do Dragao and made his debut early last year, but he has wasted little time in becoming a firm fixture in Julen Lopetegui’s side after he promoted him to the first-team.
Now Neves, who plays in a defensive midfield role, is excelling with his passing range and playmaking capabilities.
Real Madrid and Barcelona are both believed to have dispatched scouting parties to take in Neves, but Chelsea are already fully versed on the player.
Sources have revealed that should the club desire midfield options in January, and knowing a deal for previous top target Paul Pogba is unlikely in January, then Neves could be among the alternative options considered.
