Derby County beat Preston North End last weekend to pick up their first three points of the new campaign.
Derby have been waiting a long time for their first victory of the campaign, and Clement wants his players to go on a run now.
The 43-year-old admits that collecting his first three points of the season was a big relief, but he does not want to the squad to rest on their laurels.
"We have to build on that, and that's what I said to the players in the dressing room afterwards," Clement said.
"I won't shy away from the point that we have not started the season well in terms of results.
"And we are all really pleased because the longer it goes without getting victories you can become anxious."
Derby take on Reading later this evening, and they will be going all out to start building on the momentum gained from their win over Preston.
Doing so could be difficult, though, as the Royals have been in fantastic form - and go into the game having beaten Ipswich Town 5-1 in their last fixture.
That result highlights the class that the Rams are up against, but Clement's side will feel confident that they have the ability in their squad to cope.
Derby made a number of additions over the summer and the deadline day recruitment of Bradley Johnson and Jacob Butterfield has given them even more quality to pick from.
