Nacer Chadli has paid tribute to Ryan Mason's work rate on Tottenham Hotspur's official website, after the midfielder opened his goalscoring account for the season against Sunderland at the weekend.
Mason netted the winner as Tottenham secured a 1-0 win at the Stadium of Light, after bursting through the Sunderland defence and keeping his composure when through on goal.
It was a strike which highlighted the midfielder's stamina and desire, and Chadli was delighted for the England international.
“Ryan created chances last time out and it didn’t happen for him, but it was great for him to get the goal this time," he said. "He works so hard for the team and his perseverance paid off.
“It was amazing to get our first win – we’ve waited too long for it, but we’ve worked hard for it."
Spurs will be keen to build on their maiden win of the new campaign and start making up the ground on the top-six which they have already lost.
The Lilywhites have rather stumbled out of the blocks, and they still do not appear to be in top gear, but they will be hoping that the victory at the Stadium of Light can give them a kick-start.
If they are to climb up the table then Mason will be key, as the academy graduate has been in fine form so far this term.
The 24-year-old has looked sharp to date, and has been one of the standout players for Mauricio Pochettino's side as a result.
