The West Ham midfielder had congratulated the winger on his first Norwich goal.
The Hammers were in fine form against the Magpies, as they banished the Upton Park demons left over from home defeats to Leicester City and Bournemouth.
Their first home victory of the season now means West Ham have won three out of five and the performances of Victor Moses, Dimitri Payet and more suggest Slaven Bilic's men are in for a very promising few weeks.
Jarvis, though, has also enjoyed some fine form since leaving the club to join Norwich on loan. On his debut for the Canaries last weekend, the 29-year-old winger scored and shone during a 3-1 win over Bournemouth.
West Ham summer signing Obiang had congratulated him and wished him all the best, with Jarvis responding the morning after the Newcastle win.
@Obiang14 thank you my friend! Well done last night great result!— Matt Jarvis (@MrMattJarvis) September 15, 2015
Next up for the Hammers is a tough trip to Manchester City but, on current form, Bilic's side may be one of the few Premier League clubs who could actually get a result at the Etihad Stadium.
After that comes a Capital One Cup clash with Leicester City, before the chance for a Jarvis reunion (although he won't be allowed to play against his parent club) as West Ham host Norwich in the top flight.
