The Leeds United owner has been talking about his successful countryman and what the future may hold for him.
Allegri is currently in charge of Serie A champions Juventus and got his first big chance in management when Cellino gave him the job at Cagliari. Since then he has taken charge of AC Milan and more recently Juventus and he is now tasked with helping them defend their title while also making waves in the Champions League.
Speaking about his countryman, Cellino told the Mirror, “He is interested in English football, and would like to manage here one day.”
Ruling out Manchester City and Chelsea, but suggesting Manchester United, Arsenal and Liverpool could be possibilities, Cellino then said, “The best English club for Massimiliano Allegri would be Leeds because we have the biggest heart. But we are not in the Premier League.”
That may be the case for now but Leeds are building a squad – and developing a number of promising young players – that could ultimately achieve promotion from the Championship back to the top flight.
If current Leeds boss Uwe Rosler does that he should be given the chance to guide them in the Premier League, but following Cellino’s latest comments it is clear he rates the man who is motivated by love, not money…
