Liverpool's Jordan Henderson reportedly travelling to USA for injury assessment

The Liverpool skipper is seemingly no closer to a return to action.

According to a report from ITV, Liverpool midfielder Jordan Henderson has been sent to the USA as the club look to get to the bottom of his latest injury problem.

The Reds captain has missed Liverpool’s last three league games against Arsenal, West Ham United and Manchester United, and he will not be involved when his side take on Bordeaux in the Europa League later this week.

With Liverpool picking up just one point in the matches Henderson has missed, manager Brendan Rodgers will be desperate to get him back as soon as possible, but only once he has fully recovered.

The ITV report claims Liverpool’s medical staff have now made the decision to seek advice from Dr James Cozzarelli, an expert based in New Jersey.

It goes on to claim that Henderson is expected to remain in America for a few days but that at this stage there is no suggestion that he will require surgery.

Henderson has played 188 matches for Liverpool to date, scoring 20 goals and providing 32 assists in that time, but without him his side have struggled and after a promising start they have slipped to 10th in the table.
