Prutton made his comments in the build-up to Forest’s game against Queens Park Rangers away from home in the Championship on Saturday.
“The potential is of course a top-six finish, but the big part of that is the but,” said the former Forest midfielder on Sky Sports 5. “When do the injured players come back?
“(Britt) Assombalonga - huge lose, Andy Reid - huge loss, not only in their technical ability, but they are the focal point for this team, they are the personality for this team. Chris Cohen - exactly the same.”
Forest, who won the match against QPR 2-1 at Loftus Road, do have a number of injury concerns at the moment.
That is one of the main reasons why Dougie Freedman’s side struggled for points before the international break.
The win against QPR is certainly going to boost the players’ confidence, and the fans will hope that the Reds can build on that victory.
It will not be easy for Forest, though, as the Championship is a hugely competitive league. A few bad results, and it will become very tough for the Reds.
As things stand at the moment, Freedman’s side are just two points behind sixth-placed Hull City in the Championship table.
