Confirmed: Preston v Bristol City lineups - Stevie May handed first start

Preston North End

Here is how Preston North End and Bristol City will line up for this evening's Championship game.

Preston North End will be looking to put an end to three successive league defeats when they take on Bristol City tonight.

The Lilywhites were beaten 2-1 by Derby County on Saturday, but a second half rally led by new signings Eoin Doyle and Stevie May will give fans hope of a result tonight.

May, a deadline day signing from Sheffield Wednesday, is handed his first start for North End tonight as he replaces Will Keane in attack, meaning he will partner last season's top goalscorer Joe Garner.

Doyle takes his place on the bench alongside Marnick Vermijl, who has been dropped to the substitutes bench in favour of Chris Humphrey in what appears to be a 5-3-2 system from Simon Grayson.

North End go up against Bristol City, just months after they faced each other in League One - but having both won promotion, their clash is a Championship one this evening.

The Robins have also struggled in the second tier so far this term, winning just one of their opening six league games under Steve Cotterill.

It looks like Cotterill will also go with a 5-3-2 system, with loanees Liam Moore and Nathan Baker - signed from Leicester City and Aston Villa recently - starting in the back line.

Luke Freeman will be looking to provide ammunition for Jonathan Kodjia and Aaron Wilbraham in attack, with ex-Preston loanee Callum Robinson, who is currently on loan at Ashton Gate from Aston Villa, facing his former club from the bench.
