Leicester City’s Jim Donnelly became an overnight sensation when his reaction to Jamie Vardy’s goal was captured on camera.
A comeback win is always something a bit special for the players and fans involved but Leicester City’s Support Liaison & Disability Access Officer Jim Donnelly enjoyed a particularly unforgettable afternoon after the Foxes 3-2 win.
A fan of the club for some 31 years, the Ayreshire-born club employee has been working for Leicester for some 18 years, living and breathing everything Foxes related.
So when Jamie Vardy levelled things up for the hosts, who had been 2-0 down to Aston Villa and heading for defeat, he quite understandably celebrated the goal.
And what a celebration it was with cameras picking up Donnelly’s magic moment in a clip that has since become a viral hit.
Speaking to the official Leicester City website in the wake of the incident, the Foxes employee admitted that the reaction to the clip has been “madness.”
“I can’t believe it’s got this much attention. My phone’s been going crazy since it happened,” he said.
“It was such a spirited response from the team to being 2-0 down and the stadium was rocking, I was completely caught in the moment.
One of the burning questions among fans online was that, if that was his reaction to the Vardy leveller, how did he respond when Nathan Dyer put the Foxes in front?
Well, Donnelly has now offered up an explanation as to the lack of a similar clip, which would have surely seen the club official losing his nut in similarly impressive style.
“I didn’t see the winner, but it was fantastic that we went on to win the game,” he explained.
Yes, it would appear that, at the time of the winner, Donnelly was busy at work and therefore unavailable for similarly jubilant scenes.
Not that he will mind since becoming the best thing to happen to the Internet since the Wealdstone Raider.
Do you want some indeed.
