Jack Grealish explains his mixed feelings after Aston Villa defeat

The Aston Villa winger scored but could not prevent them from ultimately losing against Leicester City on Sunday.

Aston Villa player Jack Grealish has taken to Twitter after his side’s 3-2 defeat against Leicester City on Sunday.

The 20-year-old winger scored his first senior goal for Villa to open the scoring at the King Power Stadium, and when Carles Gil doubled the visitors’ advantage shortly after the hour-mark it seemed his side were on the way to a big three points.

But Leicester are a very different beast this season and three goals in the last 18 minutes from Ritchie de Laet, Jamie Vardy and Nathan Dyer broke Villa hearts and sent the Foxes back up to second in the Premier League table.

Grealish was injured at the start of the season but he is now fit and firing and his curled opener was a sight to behold.

It was also a moment he will never forget and it is understandable that he had mixed emotions after the game.

Writing on social media on Sunday evening, the Villa youngster said, “Gutted! But on a personal note, proud to score my first goal for the club I love. Once again the fans were unreal.”

Unfortunately for those fans and for Villa’s players they were undone at the death, leaving manager Tim Sherwood with plenty of work to do in the weeks ahead.
