Is Uwe Rosler close to backing Mirco Antenucci and Luke Murphy at Leeds?

Both players have made positive impacts off the bench in consecutive games.

Leeds United looked to be heading for their first defeat of the season on Saturday, but a pair of timely substitutions from Uwe Rosler provided the answer for his team in the nick of time.

The German coach called upon Mirco Antenucci and Luke Murphy before the hour mark against Brentford, and it was they who marked the game's best football from Leeds United's perspective.

Speaking in his post-match press conference, captured in full by LUTV, Rosler openly spoke of the benefits that both Luke Murphy and Mirco Antenucci supplied his team with following their second half introductions.

"We couldn't carry on the way we were going in the second half, so we (brought) Mirco on immediately and I think that helped us. Also, especially Luke, to give us the football structure we needed to get back into the game."

Rosler was also asked if he felt Murphy was now ready to start games after an abrupted pre-season period, to which he responded: "I think when you've seen him today, you've seen he is ready."

Saturday's cameos from the pair drew parallels to the impact they made before the international break away at Derby, albeit without a place on the scoreboard for Mirco Antenucci in particular.

Both Antenucci and Murphy were unquestionable starters for Leeds last season, and have been showing just why in the past few weeks despite them being on the bench for the majority of the two fixtures.

With games now coming thick and fast for Uwe Rosler's team; who are back in action tomorrow night at Elland Road with the visit of Ipswich Town, the Leeds manager could be closer than ever to bringing the pair back in as starters in the league.
