Everton fans react on Twitter after Conor McAleny joins Charlton on loan

The Everton striker will spend the next few weeks at Charlton Athletic.

Everton have announced on their official Twitter account that striker Conor McAleny has joined Charlton Athletic on loan until 7 November.

The 23-year-old centre forward has been with the Toffees since he joined their academy back in 2003, but despite his ability in front of goal he has played just three times for the first-team.

Injuries have certainly played their part in that, but after an impressive pre-season it seemed McAleny was finally going to get the chance to impress Everton manager Roberto Martinez on a regular basis.

Instead, after one under-21 appearance this season – during which he scored and assisted in a 3-3 draw with Liverpool – McAleny will now look to continue his development in the short term at The Valley.

Charlton are currently 10th in the Championship with nine points from their first six matches and McAleny will be tasked with scoring the goals that get them back on track after a recent wobble that saw them drop five points from a possible six.

During the summer McAleny had a match to remember in a pre-season friendly against Swindon Town, scoring one goal and setting up the other three in a 4-0 victory.

But Everton have now sent him out during the emergency loan window as he looks to finally prove he has what it takes to succeed at Goodison Park further down the line.
