Dael Fry signs new Middlesbrough contract

England youth star has committed his future to his hometown club by signing a new long-term deal.

Middlesbrough have handed a new five-and-half-year deal to highly-rated young defender Dael Fry, as announced on the club’s official website.

Fry has only just turned 18, but he has already made his first-team debut when he turned in a fine display in Boro's opening day draw at Preston North End.

Now Boro have moved to tie him down to a new deal which will run until 2020.

Fry is the latest product of Boro's famed youth academy and he is very well thought of, both at the Riverside Stadium and St George's Park - as he is an England Under-19.

The 18-year-old was also part of the England Under-17 squad which won the European Championship last year.

Fry will now be determined to build on his debut on the opening day and push the likes of fellow Boro graduate Ben Gibson for a first-team role.

Boro have also announced that another of their defensive prospects, Adam Jackson has joined League One Coventry City on loan where he will link up with former boss Tony Mowbray.
