Bilic admits he is tempted to play Andy Carroll against Newcastle

The West Ham boss has stated that the England international could well be in line for a start tonight.

West Ham United manager Slaven Bilic has given an update on Andy Carroll’s fitness and stated to The Mirror that he is tempted to play the wrecking ball forward against old club Newcastle tonight.

The England international has had his injury concerns at Upton Park over recent months and is yet to feature for the Hammers this season.

However, Bilic has revealed that the powerhouse forward has been impressing in club training and that he could well feature against his former employers tonight.

“He has now had six weeks of hard training,” The Mirror quote Bilic as saying.

“It is almost like signing a new player and, yes, I am tempted to play him against his old team.”

Bilic’s comments suggest that Carroll will be involved in some capacity in the clash, which will bolster the team’s attacking options.

With Enner Valencia on the sidelines for the foreseeable future and an over-dependence on Diafra Sakho as a result, the Englishman’s return will be a real boost for the London club.

Carroll will surely be motivated to play against his boyhood club and prove a point.

Both teams will be desperate for three points after hot-and-cold starts, with the visitors looking for their first win of the season and West Ham having lost both of their two home games to date in 2015-16.
