Ayoze Perez has revealed his proudest moment as a Newcastle player.
When asked for his proudest moment, Perez said: “When the fans stand (sic) up to clap Jonas Gutierrez when he came back to St James’ Park. I won't forget that moment!”
Jonas made his return to action for the Magpies against Manchester United last season, ending an absence on the 4th March 2015 when he came on from the substitutes bench against the Red Devils.
He was handed the captain’s armband by Fabricio Coloccini, and was met with cheers from not just Newcastle fans, but from supporters of football as a sport.
Jonas went on to make 10 appearances last season, scoring arguably the most important goal of the Magpies’ season, as he netted the opening goal on the final day of the season as the Tyneside club secured their Premier League safety by defeating West Ham 2-0.
The 32-year-old left St James’ Park at the end of the campaign, and is back playing football with Deportivo La Coruna in Spain. His story is one which everyone will remember when looked back on, and Perez believes it has been his greatest moment in his short career on Tyneside.
