Tottenham round-up: Early team news; Adebayor released; Sherwood remains interested

A select round-up of the latest news relating to Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham Hotspur take on Sunderland at the Stadium of Light later today with both sides seeking their first win of the new season.

Spurs are currently 17th in the table while Sunderland are 19th with only Stoke City below them on goal-difference.

In early team news, the BBC reports that Hueng-Min Son could make his debut for Tottenham after signing from Bayer Leverkusen, but Mousa Dembele and Christian Eriksen are both out injured.

Sunderland loanee DeAndre Yedlin is ineligible to play for his parent-club but Fabio Borini is expected to feature following his move from Liverpool.

In other news, Tottenham have announced that they have come to an agreement with striker Emmanuel Adebayor to terminate his contract immediately.

The news was announced on the club's official Twitter account on Sunday morning and sees the player leave after 113 games for the club, in which time he scored 42 goals and provided 20 assists.

And finally, the Telegraph reports that Aston Villa manager Tim Sherwood would consider another move for Adebayor.

The Togo international had been training with Spurs’ under-21s prior to his release and the Villa boss admitted he would have taken Adebayor in a heartbeat this summer if he could.

When it came to a potential January move, Sherwood admitted he would consider it if he needed to strengthen his forward-line at the turn of the year, but followng the latest news one wonders what the future holds for Adebayor.
