The 24-year-old proved a game changer for Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday afternoon.
So Tottenham finally have their first win of the Premier League season. After 75 minutes of what most people wouldn't call football, the north London side sprung to life - Ryan Mason leading the charge as Mauricio Pochettino's men ended up leaving Sunderland with all three points.
But Tottenham's sources of inspiration - Mason aside - were rather surprising.
After all the focus on Heung-Min Son and even Dele Alli, two first-time Premier League starters who didn't play badly by any means, it was actually Erik Lamela who provided the assist for Tottenham's winner.
And another Spurs substitute impressed supporters even more in Andros Townsend.
Indeed, heading into the international break, both were so out of favour their futures at White Hart Lane were considered virtually over. The arrivals of Son and Clinton Njie, meanwhile, have placed even greater pressure on the previously struggling duo.
At Sunderland, however, 24-year-old Townsend changed the game with his direct threat and ability to beat his man. Will he now be able to keep it up consistently? Here's how Tottenham fans reacted to his display against the Black Cats...

Townsend was very good today. Provided a lot of width and drove at the defense. Can't complain with his performance today. #COYS #THFC
