Liverpool suffered a 3-1 defeat to Manchester United at Old Trafford in the Premier League on Saturday evening.

Michael Owen has taken to social networking site Twitter to give his reaction to Liverpool’s defeat to Manchester United away from home in the Premier League on Saturday evening.

Liverpool’s disappointing start to the 2015-16 campaign continued, as they went down 3-1 to United at Old Trafford.

After a goalless first half, Netherlands international Daley Blind put the Red Devils in the lead in the 49th minute.

Spanish midfielder Ander Herrera doubled United’s advantage from the penalty spot in the 70th minute, before Christian Benteke gave Liverpool hopes of a comeback with a spectacular overhead kick.

However, debutant Anthony Martial made it 3-1 to Louis van Gaal’s side in the 86th minute with a wonderful solo effort.

Over the course of the 90 minutes at Old Trafford, visiting Liverpool had 44% of the possession, took eight shots of which four were on target, and earned four corners.

Former United and Liverpool striker Owen was following the game, and he stated that Reds manager Brendan Rodgers has a lot of thinking to do.

“Some amazing goals and big stories came out of this evenings game,” Owen wrote on Sportlobster.com. “Weak performance from Liverpool, Rodgers has plenty of thinking to do. “
