Liverpool returned from the international break hoping to get a much-needed three points under their belts but instead they suffered a 3-1 defeat at the hands of Manchester United.
In truth Liverpool were poor and the majority of their players did not show the desire needed to get a victory against their fierce rivals, and one player in particular who flattered to deceive is summer signing Roberto Firmino.
The Brazilian signed from German club Hoffenheim earlier this year after scoring 49 goals and providing 36 assists in 153 matches.
But the 23-year-old is yet to get off the mark for his new club and he was replaced in the 65th minute by Jordan Ibe on Saturday.
Firmino was not the only Liverpool player to underperform but he is arguably the most high-profile considering his price-tag.
After the match we took to Twitter to see what Liverpool fans thought of Firmino’s performance against United and you can read a selection of what we found below:
@donhutch4 Firmino? Have you ever seen a player have less impact on games than him? I reckon he's touched the ball about 6 times this season— Darren Corless (@DarrenCorless) September 13, 2015
I'm still confused as to where firmino is supposed to play: striker, no 10 , or wide. Rodgers surely doesn't either— lester Dmello (@lestler) September 13, 2015
Firmino, Lucas and Can need binning ASAP. The frauds.— Aniket Trivedi (@atrivedi99) September 13, 2015
Ibe should start with firmino benched.— lester Dmello (@lestler) September 13, 2015
@simonbrundish Firmino has been doing okay for someone out of position... I can recall him winning the ball back 5 times in first half— MK GRANDS (@mkgrands) September 13, 2015
@atrivedi99 what whole thing? I think Firmino will be good for us! He's facing the same problem Benteke is, no support in attack— Megh Kanabar (@Sterrard8) September 13, 2015
The Firmino situation is just peak BR. A huge talent that he had no interest in, shoehorned out wide tracking full-backs. Rinse and repeat.— Ryan L (@ryan3levis) September 13, 2015
