Juventus star Claudio Marchisio to miss Manchester City tie with thigh injury

The Italian international has suffered a repeat of his old injury.

Manchester City are back in the Champions League this season and on Tuesday they will be facing off against last year’s beaten finalists Juventus at The Etihad Stadium.

City have been dealt a few injury blows ahead of the game. David Silva remains a doubt after missing the 1-0 win against Crystal Palace this weekend. They also picked up a new worry in that game. Sergio Aguero injured his knee after a fairly poor challenge from Scott Dann.

But they are not the only team suffering with injuries ahead of the game, with it now confirmed that one of Juve’s star players will also be out of the game.

Claudio Marchisio is no stranger to the treatment table. He has been injured on-and-off quite often in recent times and only returned from recent thigh trouble in a draw with Chievo in Serie A yesterday. However he came off at half-time, holding the muscle again.

He is now set for a further four weeks on the sidelines meaning he will not feature against City this week.

A blow for the Italian international but a real boost for City after their own injury troubles deepened.
