Celtic and Southampton fans react on Twitter to Van Dijk’s Premier League debut

Virgil van Dijk, who joined Southampton from Celtic in the summer, made his debut against West Bromwich Albion in the Premier League on Saturday.

Southampton and Celtic fans have taken to social networking site Twitter to have their say on the performance of Virgil van Dijk against West Bromwich Albion in the Premier League on Saturday.

Van Dijk joined Southampton from Scottish Premiership champions Celtic on a five-year contract in the summer transfer window.

According to BBC Sport, the Saints had to pay the Bhoys a transfer fee of £11.5 million for the services of the Dutch defender.

The 24-year-old centre-back made his debut for Southampton against West Brom at The Hawthorns on Saturday.

The former Groningen star started the game and played for the entire 90 minutes, as the encounter finished in a goalless draw.

The Dutchman gave a good account of himself against West Brom and was one of the best Southampton players on the pitch at The Hawthorns.

Van Dijk had a pass accuracy of 86%, and won all three of his headers against the Baggies.
